A dripping faucet is particularly unpleasant. Not only can its regular noise be disturbing, but it also causes economic and ecological inconvenience. It’s important to address plumbing leaks as soon as they start so you can avoid wasting water, protect your floors, cabinets, walls and ceilings from potential water damage, reduce your water bills, and avoid complex and invasive repairs.

Identify the problem

A dripping faucet can be painful to hear. The sound emitted by falling drops of water is often annoying. While they don’t usually cause serious damage to your home, dripping sink faucets are a problem from a drinking water waste standpoint. Dripping faucets can waste a significant amount of water. Faulty or damaged washers and gaskets are usually responsible for faucet leaks. Corrosion and the buildup of mineral deposits can also cause your faucets to leak.

Fix the problem

Of course, several causes are possible, but in most cases, dripping mixer taps are due to a problem with the seals. All you have to do to solve the problem is to unscrew the tip of your faucet and remove the grid and the gasket. If the grid is calcified, it must then be immersed in white vinegar and rubbed with a brush to remove the limestone. If the seal is damaged, you must purchase a replacement. As it is mandatory to replace it with a model of the same size, do not hesitate to go to the store with your old seal to buy the right size. Then all you have to do is reassemble the device, replacing the seal and the grid in their place.

The cartridge may also be at fault. This is the part located under the water opening system. To carry out the repair, the faucet handle must be removed to access the cartridge. You can then remove the old model and replace it with a new identical one. Exactly as with the joint, do not hesitate to bring the cartridge to the store in order to obtain the same model. All you have to do is put everything back in place and check that the leak is a thing of the past by opening the tap.
